FAQ

New to Yoga.

  • Can I still do yoga if I’m not flexible?

Of course you can. Flexibility and prior experience with yoga are not requirements.

  • What should I wear?

Wear athletic clothes – basically anything you don’t mind sweating in is fine! Remember it gets H-O-T!

  • Should I eat or drink before class?

We do not recommend practicing on a full stomach. You can eat something light 30 minutes before class if you’d like. But most of our classes are heated, and we will be flowing, breathing, and sweating A LOT. Hydration is imperative, so bring a water bottle to class.

  • What if I’m pregnant?

If you’re pregnant, please consult your doctor before starting or continuing to practice hot yoga. We do offer prenatal classes at various times throughout the year.

  • What if I’m injured?

Talk to your doctor first. And always tell your teacher if you have an injury, even if you think it’s small. We do give hands-on assists in this practice, and we would never want to put your body in jeopardy!

  • *Temp COVID Updates* In Class Hands on Assists

Temporary update: Due to COVID-19, we will not be doing ANY hands on assists right now.

    .   .   .   .   .

It is common in Baptiste Yoga to use hands on, alignment based assists to support you in your practice. We also have certain classes that have assistants to support the teacher and students throughout the practice.

We know and honor that you might not want to be touched! No biggie at all. If you do not wish to receive any hands on assists from the teacher or assistant, please just take a chip at the front desk and leave it with the “No thanks” side facing up on your mat!

  • *Temp COVID Updates* Policies on arrival, pre-registration & cancellation

TEMPORARY COVID-19 UPDATES Here are our current policies on arrival and registration based on NYS guidelines:

    1. 1. All students MUST pre-register for class.
    2. 2. No walk-ins allowed right now, sorry!
    3. 3. The studio doors lock at the start of class. While we would normally allow for late arrivals no problem, we unfortunately have to lock the doors at the beginning of class in order to stay aligned with the state guidance that allows us to stay open. If you arrive late, you will unfortunately miss the class.
    4. 4. Indoor class cancellation policy– all students must cancel more than 12 hours in advance to avoid being charged for class. Any unlimited passes such as Annual, Month Unlimited, and Week Unlimited passes will be charged a $10 fee for late cancellation(less than 12hrs). Drop in, 5,10 & 20 passes will lose the class for that day.
    5. 5. Waitlist: Due to reduced class sizes we have added a waitlist. You will receive an email up to one hour before class if you have been added to the class. Please only come in if you have received an email confirmation that you have been added to the class. The email is titled “You have been added to class.”

    .   .   .   .   .

    Policies for non-COVID times:

It is our goal to create a community of conscious yogis who know the impact they have on others. In other words, please be sure to arrive minimally 5min early for class AND be sure to cancel yourself out of class if you’re not going to make it so we can give another yogi your spot! They will be so grateful you did!

    Explained:

Arrival: Whether you did or did not pre-register, please arrive minimally 5min early. If you did not pre-register, we highly recommend you arrive 15min early to get registered for class.

    Pre-registration for classes:

We do not require pre-registration although we highly recommend it to make your sign in process quicker when you get there.

NOTE: That your spot is not guaranteed if you do not pre-register, no matter how early you arrive. If you DO pre-register, you need to arrive minimally 5min early, otherwise your spot may be given away to another yogi when classes are full/waitlisted.

Cancellations: We know life happens and sometimes things come up that get in the way of that class you pre-registered for. No problem!

If you pre-registered but can’t make it to class, please do your fellow yogis a HUGE favor and cancel your class *prior to class starting* so we can move someone in from the waitlist if necessary. Failing to cancel your class ahead of time may result in losing a class from your pass.

If you’ve never done yoga before or have only taken a few classes, our PYB Basics Class is a great place to start, however, If the Basics Class times don’t fit your schedule, feel free to attend any other class, and simply let the teacher know before starting that it’s your first time!
